Puddles

And we think cycling conditions in the UK leave a lot to be desired. Come hell or high water the Giro d’Italia always delivers on excitement (Stage 9 of the 2010 edition).

Team concept

Team Trek K-Swiss: nice idea from a marketing perspective, but will it help the athletes hit new levels? It’s certainly motivational for them and for us at least! My reaction was: man, I wanna form a Tri team too. Then I realised I’m already a member of Tri London – oops!

Through the lens

Check out the ’2009 ITU World Championship Series’ image gallery on triathlon.org. I’d love me and my SLR to get such access to the elite triathlon world.

Lance, Lieto, and letting it rip in Hawaii

How it’s done

Fabian Cancellara: the greatest time trial rider in history? The best position. The most power. The fastest cadence. I know who I want to model my triathlon riding on! Click image for highlights of the World TT.

I watched him compete on Eurosport recently: leading, his bike broke mid-ride, he hit the deck hard, fixed it, remounted, and still won the [...]

“Alberto came to win and, quite honestly, so did I”

Lance Armstrong, 7th July Only last week Lance was claiming he was nothing more than a domestique deluxe in the Astana team, and that Contador was the leader. This was re-stated by Bruyneel at the start of the Tour. We’d all questioned his age, his time away from top-level competition, his ‘beach weight-lifting with celebrity buddies’ [...]

The Science of Lance Armstrong

If you can get past the melodramatic music and commentary, this Discovery Channel documentary is worth watching. It reinforces what we already know about the story of Lance Armstrong: a genetically unique lead man; a big budget; an unrivalled supporting cast. But this film gives a great insight into how the three elements came together to push [...]
